An old recipe from Woman's Day magazine. Of course I have tweaked it to taste. Easy to fix and looks elegant. It cools off really fast so a warmer is advised or turn down the oven and keep it hot until served.
Ingredients:
10 ounces frozen broccoli, cut up
2 slices bacon, diced
1/2 clove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/4 cup soft bread crumbs
1 tablespoon butter
Directions:
1. Defrost broccoli according to package directions. Meanwhile fry bacon with garlic until bacon is crisp. Add vinegar and heat over medium heat until mixture is beginning to bubble.
2. Meanwhile toast bread crumbs in butter in a small skillet over medium heat until light brown.
3. Place broccoli in a medium baking dish.
4. Pour sauce over broccoli and sprinkle with toasted bread crumbs.
5. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until broccoli is tender.
6. NOTE: We make the bread crumbs from day old hot dog or hamburger buns cut into about 1 squares.
