A creamy ,filling chowder that's so very easy to make Ingredients:
2 cups frozen broccoli florets, cooked and drained ( or fresh, steamed 5 minutes, drained) |
2 tbl butter |
1/2 cup diced celery |
1/2 chopped carrot |
1 medium onion, chopped |
1 tsp fresh or 1/4 tsp dried thyme leaves |
1/4 c flour |
1 1/2 cup milk |
1 (10 1/2 oz) can condensed chicken broth |
2 cups of cooked chicken |
1 cup shredded american or cheddar dheese |
Directions:
1. Cook broccoli according to pkg directions and drain or steam fresh broccoli 5 mintues and drain 2. Melt margerine in a large saucepan over medium heat 3. Add celery, carrot, onion and thyme;cook5 to 7 minutes or until crisp-tender. stirring ocassionally 4. Stir flour into some of the milk, making a smooth paste...add milk a little at a time until thin, then stir in remaining milk and broth 5. Add to to vegetable mixture and cook until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly 6. Stir in chicken and broccoli;simmer 5 minutes or until heated through, stirring ocassionally. 7. Add cheese; stir until melted |
