BROCCOLI AND ONION DELUXE This is a recipe I obtained from an Estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Brooks Estate in Richardson, Texas in 2006. Ingredients:
20 ounce package frozen broccoli flowerets |
2 cups frozen pearl onions |
2 tablespoons butter |
2 tablespoons all purpose flour |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper |
3/4 cup milk |
3 ounces cream cheese cut up |
1/3 cup dry white wine |
toasted slivered almonds |
Directions:
1. Cook broccoli and onions in boiling salted water until tender about 10 minutes then drain. 2. Melt butter then blend in flour, salt and pepper then add milk all at once. 3. Cook and stir until bubbly then blend in cream cheese. 4. Remove from heat then stir in wine and fold in vegetables. 5. Turn into casserole dish then bake uncovered at 350 for 35 minutes. 6. Sprinkle almonds on top before serving. |
