For a quick and easy dessert, I whip up these brownies. The frosting also makes the brownies irresistible.Mary Peterson, Centralia, Ontario Ingredients:
1 cup sugar |
1/2 cup butter |
4 eggs |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
3/4 cup chocolate syrup |
1 cup plus 1 tablespoon king arthur unbleached all-purpose flour |
1 cup chopped pecans |
frosting: |
1-1/2 cups sugar |
6 tablespoons butter, softened |
1/3 cup milk |
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips |
1/2 cup chopped pecans |
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, cream sugar and butter until light and fluffy. beat in eggs and salt. Stir in chocolate syrup, flour and nuts. 2. Pour into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes. 3. For frosting, in a small saucepan, combine the sugar, butter and milk. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Boil for 1 minute; remove from the heat; stir in chocolate chips until melted. Beat until spreading consistency, about 3 minutes. Add pecans, frost warm brownies. Yield: 2 dozen. |
