I have never made this particular casserole, but I have eaten it many times. Loretta brings this wonderful casserole to our prayer breakfasts at church, and if she doesn't her mother Cleda does. I finally got the recipe for this myself, so I will definitely be making it as I know it is wonderful. It is very creamy. The meat they use is usually ham and sometimes sprinkled bacon on top also. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have. I will have to cut it down for me and my hubby, but am sure it can be. Ingredients:
12 slices of buttered bread |
12 ounces shredded cheese (your choice) |
1/2-1 lb cooked sausage (or other meat) or 1/2-1 lb ham (or other meat) |
6 eggs |
3 cups milk |
salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. 1st layer - buttered bread. 2. 2nd layer - meat. 3. 3rd layer - cheese. 4. Then blend eggs, milk, salt and pepper; pour over layers. 5. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes. |
