This recipe is from my mother-in-law. She has been making it for us every year on Christmas day for years, and now it's a regular in our home. So simple, so easy, so delicious! Ingredients:
1 (15 ounce) package seasoned croutons |
1 lb regular breakfast sausage |
1 lb hot breakfast sausage |
2 cups milk |
5 eggs |
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup |
1 (16 ounce) package of shredded cheddar cheese |
salt & pepper |
Directions:
1. Spray a 10 x13” baking dish with cooking spray. 2. Line the bottom of the pan with the croutons to form a base crust layer. 3. Brown the 2 lbs. of sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Drain grease. 4. Layer the sausage evenly on top of the croutons in the pan. 5. In a bowl combine the eggs, milk and soup. Stir with a whisk to mix will. Add salt and pepper to mixture if desired. 6. Pour the mixture over the top of the sausage in the pan. 7. Cover the top evenly with the cheddar cheese and cover the pan with foil. 8. Bake at 300°F for 1.5 hours. |
