I found this recipe on one of my favorite food blogs. I thought it was an easy (and healthy!) way to make cherry tomatoes so cute they don't get traded for cheezy poufs at lunchtime. A mom can dream, right? This recipe is written to go into a lunchbox with several other things, which is why it is for so little food, but you could certainly make a dozen or more of these for an appetizer tray. Ingredients:
4 cherry tomatoes |
1 slice cheese (your favorite) |
Directions:
1. Get 2-4 toothpicks. Cut tomatoes in half. 2. Cut cheese slice into 4 long strips. Fold each strip in half, then again (so you have a stack of 4 tiny cheese squares). 3. Thread tomato bottom, cheese stack, and tomato top. The tomato should kinda resemble Saturn right now. Repeat with the other 3 tomatoes and slices of cheese. 4. You might be able to get 2 on each toothpick, depending on the size of your tomatoes. You could also use grape tomatoes if that is what you have. |
