Dressed up organic tomatoes with creamy cheesy sauce....fast and easy.the sauce gives the tomatoes a different and delicate flavor. Ingredients:
8-10 small to medium firm fresh tomatoes |
1/2 cup butter, melted |
1 cup crushed saltines |
1 tablespoon grated parmesan |
cheese sauce |
2 tablespoons butter |
2 tblsp all purpose flour |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
dash white pepper |
1 1/2 cups milk |
3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese |
Directions:
1. Peel and core tomatoes, but leave them whole. 2. Dip each whole tomato in melted butter. 3. In a small bowl, combine saltime crumbs and parmesan cheese. 4. Roll tomatoes in crumb mixture,gently pressing crumbs into tomatoes. Place tomatoes in a single layer in a greased shallow baking baking dish. If there are any crumbs and butter left, combine and sprinkle over tomatoes. 5. Bake at 475 for 15 minutes...watch carefully because they may burn. 6. - 7. CHEESE SAUCE 8. - 9. melt butter in a medium sucepan. 10. Stir in flour, salt and pepper 11. Add milk all at once; cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly, 12. Remove from the heat, stir in parmesan cheese. Serve over tomatoes. |
