Bread Pudding With Rum Sauce |

This bread pudding was served at a local eatery..everyone wanted the recipe and after years I managed to end up with it.... so good Ingredients:
4 cups scalded milk |
3 cups bread crumbs (toasted french bread) |
1 3/4 cups sugar |
1 t margarine or butter |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
4 eggs slightly beaten |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
rum sauce |
2 egg yolks |
1/2 stick margarine or butter |
1/3 cup dark rum |
1 cup powdered sugar |
Directions:
1. Soak bread in 2 cups of the hot milk for 5 minutes 2. Put in greased pan and add a few raisins on top 3. add the other 2 cups of scalded milk, margarine, eggs, and sugar 4. Add vanilla 5. Mix well and slowly pour over bread mixture 6. Bake 350 degrees for 45 min to 1 hour 7. Rum Sauce: 8. In a sauce pan add margarine, rum and powdered sugar 9. stir until sugar melts over heat 10. slowly add beaten egg yolks 11. cook until desired thickness |
