Bread Pudding With Citrus Sauce |

I like making easy recipes and this is a simple Bread Pudding. Not the dried up croutons type but the pudding type Ingredients:
1- loaf raisin bread cubed |
3 cups hot milk |
1-15 oz. can apple sauce |
1/4 tsp salt |
4 tbs melted butter |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 tsp nutmeg |
3 eggs beaten |
1tsp vanilla extract |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350. Butter a 2 quart casserole dish and set aside. Place bread cubes in a mixing bowl, add milk, stir and set aside until cooled. To bread mixture add remaining ingredients until blended. Pour in to casserole dish and place in oven for 30-40 min or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool pudding for about 20 min. Scoop onto serving dish and spoon Citrus sauce over and ENJOY! 2. FOR SAUCE: 3. 1/2 cup brown sugar 4. 1 Tbs cornstarch 5. 1/2 stick butter melted 6. 1/2 cup orange juice 7. 1/2 tsp brandy extract 8. 1/2 tsp pineapple extract 9. In a small bowl mix cornstarch and sugar and set aside. In a small saucepan over a medium heat place sugar and cornstarch mixture, butter and orange juice, then whisk until blended. Cook until sauce thickens or coats the back of a spoon. Turn off the heat and stir in extracts. Spoon over pudding. |
