I found this recipe in a magazine and tried it out. It was AMAZING! Ingredients:
8 cups white bread |
2 1/4 cups milk |
2 3/4 cups heavy cream |
2 cups sugar |
1 cup butter |
3 teaspoons vanilla extract |
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon |
1/4 cup water |
1 tablespoon lemon juice |
Directions:
1. Cube bread and place in a greased 13in x 9in x 2in baking dish. 2. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk,1-3/4 cup cream, 1 cup sugar, 3/4 cup melted butter, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour evenly over bread. 3. Bake uncovered at 350* for 40-45 minutes or until knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let stand for 5 minutes before cutting. 4. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, bring 1 cup sugar, water, and lemon juice to a boil. 5. Reduce heat to medium; cook until sugar is dissolved and amber color. 6. Stir in 2 tablespoons butter until melted. 7. Add 1 cup cream. 8. Remove from the heat. Serve with bread pudding. |
