A bread recipe that feeds the flock. I make 4 large loaves at time that has saved us money and my family loves it. Ingredients:
3 1/2 cups luke warm water |
3 pkgs. dry yeast |
1 can evaporated milk |
6 eggs |
3 palms salt |
3/4 cup sugar |
2 sticks butter |
5 lbs flour (i use part whole wheat flour) |
Directions:
1. In a large mixing bowl I put everything in together (minus the flour) and mix well with 1 - 2 cups of whole wheat flour. I then add the flour gradually until the correct texture where it can be kneaded. Pour out on floured board (counter) and knead for 10 minutes. Let rise for 2 hours (I warm my oven then put in the bread and turn off the oven for rising). After rising 2 hours, punch down and let rest 10 minutes. 2. Put into bread pans (6 regular sized loaves or 4 5lb loaf pans). Let rise again (1 - 2 hours). 3. Bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes. |
