This is my favorite, classic Thanksgiving stuffing. I don't usually ever stuff my bird, I just put this in a baking dish and cook it that way. To me this is total comfort food. Ingredients:
1 lb herb-seasoned stuffing cubes, for prepared stuffing |
3/4 cup butter |
1 onion, finely chopped |
4 stalks celery, finely chopped |
2 teaspoons poultry seasoning |
salt and pepper, to taste |
1 cup chicken broth |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. In a large skillet, melt butter over low heat. 3. Turn heat up to medium. 4. Add celery and onion and cook until slightly soft. 5. Add poultry seasoning, salt and pepper and stir until well incorporated. 6. Add bread cubes and toss until well coated. 7. Add chicken broth a little at a time until stuffing is moistened but not soggy. 8. Pour into a greased 9x13 baking dish. 9. Bake for 25 - 30 minutes until cooked through and crispy on top. |
