1976 Welcome Wagon Cookbook- Tamarac, Florida. Makes 3 loaves, would be great as a gift. Ingredients:
8 eggs, separated |
1 lb butter |
1/3 cup bourbon |
3 cups sugar |
3 cups flour |
2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
2 teaspoons almond extract |
1 cup pecans, chopped |
Directions:
1. Whip egg whites until stiff. Add 1 cup sugar: set aside. Cream butter and rest of sugar until light yellow. Add egg yolks one at a time. Alternately add flour, bourbon, vanilla and almond extracts. Beat well. Stir in nuts. Fold in egg whites until smooth. Divide batter into 3 greased loaf pans. Bake at 325 for 1 - 1 1/2 hours until done. Freezes well. |
