Ingredients:
1 (7- to 8-pound) fully cooked butt portion ham |
1 cup bourbon |
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar |
1 teaspoon grated orange rind |
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves |
25 whole cloves |
Directions:
1. Place ham in a shallow baking pan, fat side up. Bake, uncovered, at 325° for 1 1/2 hours. 2. Combine bourbon, sugar, orange rind, and ground cloves in a small mixing bowl, stirring well; let stand 30 minutes, stirring frequently to dissolve sugar. 3. Remove outer layer of skin from ham. Score fat in a diamond pattern, and stud with whole cloves. 4. Baste ham with bourbon mixture. Return ham to oven, and bake, uncovered, at 350° for 1 hour, basting frequently with bourbon mixture. 5. Transfer ham to a serving platter; cool slightly before slicing. 6. Note: Cover and store leftover ham in refrigerator. |
