A flavorful cake, easy to make and it travels well for pot lucks. Ingredients:
1/2 lb. of butter |
2 cups of sugar |
5 eggs |
1/4 teaspoon of salt |
1 teaspoon of vanilla |
2 cups of sifted flour |
glaze |
1 cup of sugar |
1/2 cup of butter |
1/2 cup of water |
1/2 cup of bourbon |
Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar. 2. Add eggs one at atime, beating weil. 3. Add salt and vanilla. 4. Mix in sifted flour. 5. Pour into greased floured tube pan. 6. Bake at 325 degrees for one hour and ten minutes. 7. Remove from the oven. 8. Pierce the cake thoroughly with a chopstick. 9. Glaze cake while it is still hot. 10. Mix sugar water and butter. 11. Heat until the sugar disssolves. 12. cook five minutes longer. 13. Take off heat and add the bourbon. 14. Pour over the cake. 15. Cool completely in the pan before attempting removal. |
