Bourbon Butterscotch Ice Cream Sauce

this recipe makes 4 cups of sauce. this is another that can be put in 1 cup or 4-ounce nice jars and given away as gifts... this recipe is from and 11 year old Woman's Day magazine...
Ingredients:
2 cups packed light brown sugar
1 stick ( 1/2 cup) butter, cut into pieces.... do not use margarine
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup bourbon
1 teasp. vanilla
Directions:
1. in a large heavy saucepan, stir brown sugar, butter, corn syrup and cream over medium heat until boiling
2. reduce heat and boil stirring occasional,for 15 minutes or until thickened
3. remove from heat
4. cool 10 minutes
5. stir in bourbon and vanilla and cool to room temperature
6. pour into jars, cover and refrigerate
7. makes 4 cups

10. tie a little note to the jar with instructions to store in the refrigerator and to bring to room temperature before serving
