I don't remember where this recipe came from but it is delicious. Prep time is approximate. Pie needs to chill after baking and before serving so plan ahead. Ingredients:
1 (18 ounce) package yellow cake mix |
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened |
1/2 cup sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2 eggs |
1/3 cup sour cream |
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate squares |
3 tablespoons margarine |
2 tablespoons cold water |
1 cup powdered sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. Grease bottom of a 9-inch springform pan. 2. Prepare cake mix as directed on package; pour batter evenly into springform pan. 3. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. 4. Combine cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla, mixing at medium speed on electric mixer until well blended. 5. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. 6. Blend in sour cream; pour over cake layer. 7. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. 8. Loosen cake from rim of pan, cool before remiving rim of pan. 9. Bring water to a boil in bottom of double boiler. 10. Remove from heat. 11. Melt chocolate with margarine in top of double boiler, stirring until smooth. 12. Add water and remaining ingredients, mix well. 13. Spread over cheesecake. 14. Chill several hours. 15. Garnish with strawberries if desired. |
