From my food preservation group. I like how simple this recipe is. I will probably use the crock pot to cook these. Ingredients:
2 cups small white beans (navy beans) |
6 cups water |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
3/4 cup salt pork, cubes |
1/4 cup packed brown sugar |
1/4 cup molasses |
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard |
Directions:
1. Soak beans overnight. Place beans in kettle with 6 cups water. Add salt. 2. Bring to boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer until tender, about 2 hours. 3. Mix beans and all cooking water in baking dish with salt pork, brown sugar,. 4. molasses, and dry mustard. 5. Cover and bake beans at 225 degrees F. for 6 to 8 hours or more. Check often to see if more water is needed. |
