Boeuf à La Bière (Beer Beef Stew) |

A classic family recipe, always good on a cold winter night! Ingredients:
2 lbs boneless beef cubes |
2 tablespoons flour |
1 teaspoon paprika |
2 tablespoons olive oil |
1 onion, chopped |
1 garlic clove, chopped |
1 beer |
1 cup beef broth |
1/2 teaspoon marjoram |
1/2 teaspoon thyme |
salt and pepper |
3 carrots, cut to pieces |
5 celery, cut to pieces |
1/2 cup barley |
Directions:
1. Heat oil and cook onion with garlic for 2 minutes. Add the beef and sprinkle with flour and paprika. Add salt and pepper and brown beef on each sides. 2. Add beer, broth and herbs. Bring to a boil. Cover and let simmer for 1 1/2 hour. 3. Add vegetables and barley. Continue cooking for 45 minutes. |
