It looked so good on TV, I had to share his recipe with you all sicne I have been baking breads all week it seems, I must be thinking that Autumn is coming -=o ...OK so I am pushing for the cooler season to come in sooner - but this bread is easy to make and baked on the grill and adding interesting toppings is perfect for the cooler nights. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups warm water (105 to 110 degrees f) |
1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast |
4 cups all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
2 tablespoons olive or canola oil, plus more for bowl |
***prep or cooking time does not include rising time... |
Directions:
1. Mix water and yeast in a large bowl and let stand 5 minutes to proof. 2. Gradually pour in 2 cups of the flour and stir to incorporate. 3. Mix for about 1 minute to form a sponge. 4. Let stand, covered, for at least 1 hour. 5. Put sponge in the bowl of a stand mixer. 6. Using the dough hook, add the salt and oil, then add the flour, 1/2 cup at a time, to form a dough. 7. Remove from bowl and knead. 8. Place in a clean oiled bowl and let rise, slowly, about 2 1/2 hours. 9. Divide dough into 4 balls, let rise again for 1/2 hour, and then roll out as desired - by hand or with rolling pin, add a little flour if you need to. 10. ****I would place the bowl for the dough to rise in an UNheated oven to rise...quicker that way. 11. ***Once rolled, place on grill and let cook 3-5 minutes on one side then 12. top with sliced grilled meats or poultry, or cheeses such as ricotta and roasted garlic as bobby did in the episode. |
