This recipe is from Gourmet magazine, from Sullivan's Steakhouse in Palm Desert, California . We are huge fans of blue cheese dressing, and once we tried this recipe, we stopped buying store-bought. I have had excellent results with fat-free sour cream and light mayo. Also, I don't follow the directions. I put all the ingredients in my Ranch shaker and shake for about 30 seconds. Cooking time is chill time. Ingredients:
1/2 cup mayonnaise |
1/4 cup buttermilk, well shaken |
3 tablespoons olive oil |
2 tablespoons sour cream |
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar |
2 1/2 teaspoons sugar |
3/4 teaspoon minced garlic |
1/8 teaspoon black pepper |
5 ounces blue cheese, crumbled (1 cup) |
Directions:
1. Whisk together all ingredients, except cheese, with a pinch of salt in a medium bowl until combined. Fold in cheese and chill, covered, at least 8 hours and up to 2 days. |
