This is a terrific party appetizer. I had this at a baby shower. The host made 2 versions...one with regular bacon and one with vegetarian bacon. Both were fantastic!
Ingredients:
1 pound bacon or turkey bacon or vegetarian bacon, browned and drained.
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup sour cream
1 tomato, seeded and diced
iceberg lettuce, shredded
1 loaf of french bread, baguette, or other crusty bread
Directions:
1. Fry bacon to crispy but not burned. Drain on a paper towel.
2. In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise and sour cream.
3. Crumble bacon into the sour cream mixture.
4. Mix in tomatoes and chill for 15 minutes.
5. Sprinkle with shredded lettuce just before serving.
6. Warm/toast bread and cut into bite size, but spread-worthy pieces.
7. Serve on large plate or platter with dip in center and knife and bread arranged around the sides.
8. OR....just sit down on the sofa and eat any leftovers right out of the bowl : ) !
