You keep this in the fridge. Serve as a dessert with whipped cream or just with coffee or tea. The taste is really out of this world. Ingredients:
1 tub cream cheese |
200 g margarine (200 ml; 3/4 cup) |
1 egg yolk |
50 ml castor sugar (3 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon) |
240 g cake flour (500 ml; 2 cups) |
15 ml baking powder (1 heaped tablespoon) |
125 ml jam (1/2 cup) |
icing sugar |
Directions:
1. Mix cheese, margarine, yolk and sugar well together. 2. Sift flour and baking powder. 3. Mix together with the cheese mixture. 4. Mix until a stiff, but still soft dough which could be rolled out. 5. Place in fridge for an hour to rest. 6. Roll out just half of the dough between two sheets of wax paper until quite thin. 7. Cut into squares. 8. Cut each point of the square inwards. 9. Fold one point of each side inwards and press down. 10. Bake for 15-20 minutes at 180 deg C (360 deg F) until golden brown. 11. Take out. 12. Sift icing sugar over. 13. Put a bit of jam in the middle. 14. Serve when cooled down. |
