Black Pepper and Onion Scones |

Yum! Ingredients:
3/4 cup onion, chopped |
1/4 cup margarine or 1/4 cup butter |
2 cups flour |
2 tablespoons sugar |
1 tablespoon baking powder |
1/2-1 teaspoon black pepper, coarsely ground |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup whipping cream |
1 egg |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 400 degrees. 2. In a small skillet, saute onions in margarine until crisp tender; set aside. Cool slightly. 3. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup and level off with a knife. 4. In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, pepper and salt; blend well. 5. Add whipping cream, egg and sauteed onions; stir just until moistened. 6. On floured surface, knead dough gently 5 or 6 times. 7. Place on ungreased cookie sheet; press into an 8 circle about 1/2 inch thick. 8. Cut into 8 wedges; separate slightly. 9. Bake at 400 degrees for 12-16 minutes or until very lightly browned. 10. Brush with melted butter or margarine. 11. Serve warm. 12. Wonderful with soup! |
