Black Forest cake / Gateau are the English names for the southern German dessert Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte , which means Black Forest cherry torte . Very simple to make with little ingredients . All you need is a chocolate cake base , lotsa whipped cream , sour cherries and chocolate shavings . Ingredients:
2 1/4 c flour , 1 c cocoa pwd , 2 1/4 tsp baking soda , 1 1/4 tsp baking pwd , 1/2 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp cinnamon pwd - sifted |
2 1/2 oz chocolate |
1 c milk |
1 1/4 c hot strong coffee |
1 c mayo ( real stuff and not the salad dressing or low fat one ) |
2 eggs |
1 1/2 tsp vanilla |
2 1/4 c or abit less sugar |
3 cups heavy cream whipped |
sour cherries . |
cherry preserves / berry jam . |
chocolate shavings |
Directions:
1. Pre heat oven at 180 deg C . 2. Grease 2 - 9 inch pans . 3. ............................................ 4. Mocha : 5. Simmer the milk and pour it over the chocolate along with the HOT coffee . 6. Whisk until smooth . 7. Set aside . 8. ............................ 9. Beat the eggs , mayo , vanilla . 10. Add the sugar slowly . 11. Alternately add the mocha and dry ing . 12. Beat until smooth and well mixed . 13. Pour in 2 - 9 inch greased baking pan and bake for 25 to 30 mins . 14. Leave it in the pan for awhile and turn it . 15. Cool completely . 16. ....................................................................................................................... 17. Assembling : 18. Spread the whipped cream in between the cake layers along with cherry preserves . 19. Spread the remaining whipped cream on top and sides . 20. Decorate with sour cherries and lotsa chocolate shavings . 21. Chill . 22. ................................................. |
