Like black bottoms, only in cake form Ingredients:
12 ounces cream cheese, softened |
2 eggs |
1 2/3 cup sugar |
10 ounces chocolate chips, semisweet |
1 1/2 cup flour, sifted |
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder |
1 tsp baking soda |
1 tsp salt |
1 cup water |
1/3 cup oil |
1 tbsp vinegar |
1 tsp vanilla |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Liberally grease a cake/bundt pan. 2. Blend together the cream cheese, eggs and 2/3 cup of the sugar in a large bowl. Stir in the chocolate chips. 3. Sift the remaining sugar, the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt into a mixing bowl. Stir in the water, oil, vinegar and vanilla; beat until smooth. 4. Scrape the batter into the pan, then top with several layers of the cream cheese topping, spreading it thinly because it will sink in deeper after each application. 5. Bake until the cakes test done - 40 to 45 min. Let cool 10 minutes before turning out on wire rack to cool completely. |
