This recipe is my own creation. I was looking for something hearty and that my kids would eat. They don't like dry beans - so I was skeptical at first. They loved it and the first time I made this - there wasn't any left! We had this with homemade breadsticks for a filling meal. This recipe freezes well. I have also taken it to potlucks. It is a crowd pleaser. Yield is approximate. Ingredients:
1 quart black beans, home-canned |
2 large carrots, chopped |
2 celery ribs, chopped |
2 cups ham, diced |
1 small onion, chopped |
1 quart water |
1 (7/8 ounce) package brown gravy mix |
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients. Let simmer for a couple hours so flavors will blend. 2. Enjoy with your favorite bread. |
