This banana bread was developed to use the blackest bananas possible. Sometimes the bread is so dark it looks like it must have molasses in it! This is the moistest, most delicious banana bread recipe I have ever found. Read more . It came from a long-time family friend of mine who is and has always been a fabulous cook! Yey Janet! Makes two loaves. Ingredients:
3 large black bananas |
1 cup sugar |
3 tsp. baking soda |
dash salt |
2 eggs |
1/4 cup cooking oil |
1 1/2 cup flour |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
Directions:
1. Line two loaf pans with tin foil and heat oven to 275 F. 2. In a large mixing bowl mash the bananas with the sugar and then mix with the salt and soda. Blend in the eggs, then, in order, the oil, flour and buttermilk. 3. Pour batter into loaf pans and bake for about 2 1/2 hours or until a tooth pick inserted comes out clean. |
