This is an Indonesian-Dutch snack that has been a favorite to everyone. The first time I made it, already a friend of mine asked for the recipe. It's a bit labour intensive when it comes to rolling the balls in bread crumbs. Read more ...but it's all worth it. The good thing is you can make them ahead and keep in the fridge for a few days or freeze them til you're ready to fry them. Ingredients:

275 gr ground beef |
2 cloves garlic |
1 small onion |
4 tbs butter |
120 gr flour, sifted |
375 ml milk |
1/2 tsp nutmeg |
2 tsp salt |
2 tsp sugar |
1/2 tsp ground pepper |
50 gr shredded cheddar cheese |
2 eggs, whisked |
bread crumbs, as needed |
Directions:
1. Direction: 2. 1. Sautee the ground beef and separate from the liquid. 3. 2. Mix the milk, spices and ground beef. You can add beef bouillon to the mix. 4. 3. Sautee the garlic and onion with butter until transparent. 5. 4. Add the flour to the garlic and onion, stir. 6. 5. Add the milk and cook until all mixed well. Turn off the heat. 7. 6. Add cheese and stil until cheese melts. Leave it to cool. 8. 7. Shape into small balls. 9. 8. Dip into whisked eggs and roll it into the bread crumbs, and repeat. 10. 9. Fry until golden brown 11. Serve with chilli padi or hot peppers for spicy food lover. |
