Found an old cookbook from a Ladies circle in Fairbanks, Alaska. It is from the 60's. I found this bread interesting and thought I would post it. I guess it is more of a Christmas bread, but, what the hay. Enjoy! Read more ! Ingredients:
3 eggs, well beaten |
1 cup sugar |
1 1/2 cups flour |
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder |
1 cup walnuts |
1 cup pecans |
1 cup dates |
1 cup maraschino cherries |
1 bar german sweet chocolate |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. 2. Leave all fruit and nuts whole, and chocolate in rather large chunks. 3. Add sugar to well beaten eggs, then flour sifted with baking powder. 4. Pour over fruit and nuts and mix well. 5. Pour into a large loaf pan, lined with parchment paper. 6. Bake for 1 hour and 25 minutes. Keep covered with parchement paper while it is rising in oven. |
