A good ol' classic recipe from grandma. Homade buttermilk biscuts and gravy from scratch. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1/2 tsp. salt |
1tbsp. sugar |
1/4 tsp. baking soda |
1 tbsp. baking powder |
5 tbsp. shortening |
1 cup buttermilk |
1lb. ground sausage |
about 3 tbsp. flour |
milk |
salt |
pepper |
red pepper flakes (optional) |
Directions:
1. [Biscuts] 2. Preheat oven to 450 F. Sift dry ingrediants together. Then cut in butter. Make a well in the middle, pour in buttermilk, using a fork, lightly mix until flour is moistened. On floured surface, knead 3 times. Pat dough out untill 1-inch thick and cut into round biscuts. Place biscuts into greased pan with edges touching. Bake 12-15 minutes. 3. [Gravy] 4. Brown the sausage. Once browned sprinkle on flower. Then add enough milk for gravy depending on how thick you want it. Add salt, pepper and red pepper flakes. simmer untill thick. |
