Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon salt |
3 tablespoons shortening |
1 cup milk |
additional milk |
2 tablespoons sesame seeds |
Directions:
1. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle 1 cup milk evenly over flour mixture, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened. 2. Turn dough out onto a wellfloured surface; knead lightly 10 to 12 times. 3. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness; cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on a greased baking sheet. Brush each with milk, and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 450° for 12 minutes or until lightly browned. |
