Birchermuesli is the original Swiss Muesli ( /wiki/Birchermuesli). Very healthy and eaten for breakfast or as part of a light meal. Feel free to adjust ingredients (milk, sugar, etc) to your taste. Ingredients:
1 c rolled oats |
1/4 c milk |
1/4 c brown sugar |
1 c plain yogurt |
raisins or craisins |
nuts ( pecans, walnuts, almonds or any you like ) |
2 apples, very finely grated (leave the peel on for good fiber) |
chopped fruit (for example, any of peaches, oranges, bananas, kiwi fruit, grapes, berries) |
Directions:
1. Soak the oats with milk and sugar the night before. 2. When ready to eat, mix in the yogurt 3. Stir in the raisins, nuts, and fruit (add berries last so they don't get too squished) |
