Great for gatherings, Super Bowl parties, tailgating. This is a heavy and large Texas style hors d'oeuvre! Place in a serving dish or chafing dish, surround with corn chips. So delicious! Ingredients:
1 pound lean ground beef |
2 cups chopped onion |
2 cups chopped onion (for serving bowl) for topping at table |
2 bottles hot catsup (or can add hot sauce to regular catsup) |
4 tablespoons chili powder |
2 cups grated mild cheddar cheese (or mix of colby and cheddar) |
2 cups grated cheddar cheese (or mix of colby and cheddar), for serving bowl) for topping at table |
Directions:
1. In a heavy skillet, brown ground beef, 2 cups chopped onion, until beef is cooked and the onion is soft (about 10 minutes) 2. Drain 3. Stir catsup, chili powder into mixture, and combine well 4. Cook over medium low heat until thickened, (about 10 minutes) 5. Spoon into a chafing dish or serving dish 6. Sprinkle top with 2 cups grated cheese, top with about 1 tablespoon of remaining onion 7. The remainder of onion and cheese can be placed in separate bowls, so that guests can help themselves 8. Keep large corn chips nearby for great dipping :) |
