I got this out of the local newspaper. I don't know who Bev is but I think this recipe is very good. Recipe doesn't call for vanilla but I always add a little bit to give it a nice flavour. Also, it tastes great to add some brown sugar with the topping. Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter |
1 cup sugar |
2 eggs |
2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 cup sour cream |
1/4 cup crushed walnuts |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/4 cup white sugar |
Directions:
1. Cream butter and one cup sugar. 2. Add effs, one at a time, beating well after each. 3. Mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt and add to mixture along with sour cream. 4. Put one-half of batter in a greased pan (a 9x9 inch pan works well). 5. Sprinkle one-half of the topping in pan, add the rest of the batter and then sprinkle the rest of the topping over the top. 6. Bake in a preheated oven at 175C (350F) until the top is nicely browned, about 30 minutes but keeping checking after 25 minutes. |
