Great doctored baked bean recipe. Found this in an old hand-made school recipe booklet. Always requested at cookouts. Great the first day, better the second. Use only the molasses based beans not the ketchup style. Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
1 onion (med chopped) |
1 (28 ounce) can baked beans (boston style) |
1 (16 ounce) can baked beans (boston style) |
1/3 cup brown sugar |
2 tablespoons vinegar (i use apple cider vinegar) |
1 -1 1/2 cup ketchup |
salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. Brown beef with onions seasoned with salt and pepper until no longer pink. Drain. Mix in 2 cans of beans (undrained), sugar, vinegar and ketchup. Put in an ovenware dish, cover and bake for 1 hour at 350. I usually make this the day before and reheat to serve. |
