This was a recipe that my mother would fix for us as kids,back in 1960.I haven't found one quite like it. Ingredients:
4 hamburger buns (sliced into 3 horizontal sections) |
1 (5 ounce) can tuna (drained) |
1/4 cup mayonnaise (i use best foods) |
onion, chopped |
celery, chopped |
12 small sweet pickles (drained) |
2 hard-boiled eggs (optional) |
mayonnaise |
ketchup |
Directions:
1. Slice hamburger buns into 3 horizontal sections. 2. Mix drained tuna with mayonnaise, a little chopped onion and celery. 3. Also add 2 boiled eggs,if you like. 4. Spread mixture on middle bun slice. 5. Spread bottom bun slice with a mixture of mayonnaise and ketchup. 6. and cover with sweet pickle slice. 7. Place sections together into a doubledecker. 8. Wrap in foil. 9. Bake in oven (375 F.) for 15 minutes. |
