BEST EVER describes this chocolate sheet cake. Baked in a *12 X 17* baking pan. A delicious chocolate icing is spread on the warm cake. Wonderful!! YUM. Ingredients:
2 cups sugar |
2 cups flour |
1/2 cup margarine (i prefer unsalted butter, but may use parkay) |
1/4 cup cocoa |
1/2 cup crisco oil |
1 cup pecans, chopped |
1 cup water |
2 eggs, beaten |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
1 teaspoon soda |
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla |
icing |
1 pound box powdered sugar (i prefer c & h powdered sugar) |
1/2 cup margarine (i prefer butter, but may use parkay) |
1/4 cup cocoa |
6 tablespoons milk |
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla |
1 cup pecans, chopped |
Directions:
1. In mixing bowl, mix sugar and flour 2. Bring margarine, cocoa, oil and water to boil in saucepan 3. Pour over flour mixture, mix well 4. Beat in eggs 5. Add buttermilk, baking soda and vanilla 6. Mix well 7. Spoon into a greased and floured 12 X 17 baking pan 8. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes 9. ICING 10. Bring milk, margarine, cocoa to boil in saucepan 11. Add sugar, vanilla, pecans 12. Mix well 13. Beat until creamy 14. Spread on warm cake |
