This was one of my aunt's recipes I got to enjoy growing up. We begged her for the recipe and now it is the most requested cake recipe that I make. I just tried to make cupcakes with the batter as well and they were delicious! It is such a simple recipe, yet its so yummy! Shhhh, don't tell her that I'm sharing it with you. :) Ingredients:
2 cups sugar |
1 cup vegetable oil |
2 eggs |
1 cup buttermilk |
3 cups flour |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
5 tablespoons cocoa |
1 cup boiling water |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
Directions:
1. Combine and pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 glass pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30-45 minutes until done. (Cake tester comes out clean). 2. For Cupcakes:. 3. Use 1/4 cup to pour batter into the paper lined cupcake tins. 4. Bake in 350 degree oven for 13-15 minutes. When you touch the center of the cupcake it should bounce back. 5. Both can be frosted with Cream Cheese Frosting. |
