This is a recipe I picked up from an estate sale several years ago. Since we love bread pudding I am constantly trying new recipes for it. This one is tried and true and my sister's favorite. Ingredients:
1 pound sweet bread cubed and oven dried |
1/2 pound raisins |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
8 ounces sugar |
8 eggs |
3 ounces melted butter |
1/2 pound coconut shredded |
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg |
1 tablespoon vanilla |
1 quart hot milk |
Directions:
1. Place bread cubes in the pan you will be baking in. 2. Add raisins and coconut and toss well. 3. Drizzle top with the melted butter. 4. Whip eggs until beaten then gradually add hot milk then sugar, spices and vanilla. 5. Pour over bread mixture and place baking dish in a larger pan half filled with water. 6. Bake at 375 for 45 minutes. 7. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream |
