This was in this Sunday's paper; I haven't tried it, but it sounds pretty easy to make. *I'm just guessing that prep time and cook time are the same thing here.* Ingredients:
2 (16 ounce) cans bush best chili beans |
1 lb lean ground beef |
1 cup chopped onion |
1 cup chopped green pepper |
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can dried tomatoes |
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste |
1/2 cup water |
1/2 teaspoon black pepper |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon chili powder |
2 teaspoons oregano |
1 teaspoon sugar |
shredded cheddar cheese (optional) |
Directions:
1. In a large saucepan, cook the beef, onion, and green pepper until the meat is browned; drain the excess grease. 2. Stir in all remaining ingredients, except the cheese; bring to a boil. 3. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. 4. Serve hot, topped with cheese, if desired. |
