Healthy beans, coupled with fruit for an extra-ordinary side dish that most people rave about when they try it and wonder why it has the flavor it does. I think it's the Dr. Pepper soda. Yum Ingredients:

masterpiece barbecue sauce |
brown sugar |
dr.pepper |
green granny smith apples |
yellow raisins |
onion |
bacon |
Directions:
1. 2 ( 16 oz ) cans Pork & Beans-I use Campbells 2. 3/4 cub Masterpiece Barbecue sauce 3. 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 4. 1 med tart apple, peeled, cored, and chopped-I use Green Granny Smith 5. 1/2 small to medium onion, chopped 6. 2 tbsp golden raisins ( I double or triple the amt cause I love them ) 7. 6 strips of bacon 8. 1/3 to 1/2 cup of Dr. Pepper ( no diet please ) 9. Preheat over to 350 degrees 10. In 1 1/2 qt. casserole combine well drained beans, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, apple, onions, and raisins. 11. Gently pour in and stir Dr. Pepper. 12. Arrange bacon strips on top. 13. Bake un-covered for about an hour. |
