WHEATFREE/DAIRYFREE/EGGFREE. SUITABLE FOR VEGETARIANS. Breakfast/Powerbar - I created this myself as an energy snack for my 6'1 fifteen year old health conscious son. Kids love them. Great HRT bar too! Really easy to make. Will keep minimum 2 weeks in sealed container. Ingredients:
250 g dessert apples, chopped |
30 ml lemon juice |
150 g soft margarine (olive or vegetable) |
75 g dark brown sugar |
75 g golden syrup |
325 g oats |
15 g oat bran |
25 g ground flax seeds |
40 g dried cranberries |
20 g dried blueberries |
20 g sesame seeds |
30 g sunflower seeds |
50 g brazil nuts (shaved) |
Directions:
1. Bring apples to boil, then simmer for 10 minutes until soft. 2. Melt margarine, sugar & syrup in a large saucepan, then remove from heat. 3. Add berries to hot mixture to allow time to plump up. 4. Add all other ingredients. Mix well. 5. Pat into 30cm x 20cm (12 x 8 )pan. 6. Bake 180c for 25 minutes. 7. Allow to cool for 15mins before cutting and removing from pan onto cooling rack. |
