I remember one winter weekend, all grandma's children gathered at her youngest brother's house and all the girls , Don and Great Uncle Paul worked to make this stew. They made enough that we all ate our fill and then each of the 7 families had 2 quarts to take home! Read more ! This is enough for just one family with leftovers. It's wonderful reheated! It also tastes great with beef, pork or venison. Ingredients:
3 lb lamb stew meat |
1 turnip - cubed |
1/2 med head of cabage - chopped |
3 lb potatoes- cubed |
2 lb carrots - sliced |
1 rutabega - cubed |
6 good sized onions - chopped |
1 qt tomatoes |
it does not say on my recipe, but i add salt and pepper to taste. that was basic seasoning for my great uncle, so i'm sure that is what bepa did. |
Directions:
1. In a large heavy pot, brown lamb in a little oil. 2. Mix everything together and stew until done, or meat and veggies are tender. |
