This is a recipe from The Ultimate Southern Living Cookbook. It is one of my favorite cookies. Not real sweet like a lot of cookies. Wonderful for the Holidays. Ingredients:
1/2 c. toasted sesame seeds |
1/2 c. butter, softened |
1 c. sugar |
1 large egg |
2 tsp. vanilla |
1 3/4 c. flour |
2 tsp. baking powder |
1/2 tsp. baking soda |
1/2 tsp. salt |
Directions:
1. Toast sesame seeds in a heavy skillet over medium heat until brown, stirring often. Remove from heat and cool. 2. Beat butter at medium speed until creamy; gradually add sugar, beating well. 3. Stir in sesame seeds, egg and vanilla. 4. Combine flour and remaining 3 ingredients; stir into butter mixture. 5. Cover and chill at least 1 hour. Shape dough into 1/2 inch balls and place on lightly greased cookie sheets. Flatten to 1/16 inch thickness with flat-bottomed glass. 6. Bake at 325 deg. for 10 min. or until lightly browned. Remove to racks to cool. 7. Yield: 10 dozen |
