Altered recipe from Joy of Cooking Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1/4 teaspoon baking soda |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
2 egg yolks |
1 cup buttermilk |
3/4 cup light cream |
6 tablespoons butter, melted |
2 egg whites |
Directions:
1. Sift dry ingredients together. 2. Combine buttermilk, cream, egg yolks and melted butter with dry ingredients with a few swift strokes. 3. Beat egg whites until stiff, not dry. 4. Fold egg whites into batter. 5. Cook on belgian waffle iron. |
