An interesting twist on traditional sweet and sour beets, with some serious flavour kick. Use a good clear rum for this, not a spiced one. Ingredients:
1 can sliced beets, drain and save liquid |
1 tablespoon cornstarch |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar |
1 ounce rum |
1/4 cup sugar |
Directions:
1. Bring saved beet liquid to a boil. 2. Add cornstarch, salt, vinegar, and sugar. 3. Simmer until thickened and bubbles. 4. Add sliced beets and rum to sauce. 5. Heat five minutes. |
