A nice lo cal soup Ingredients:
beefy cabbage soup |
2 lbs ground beef (can use ground turkey) |
1 whole onion (diced) |
8 cubes beef bullion |
1 head cabbage ( cut in half long way and then cut in quarters and slice a cross ) |
1 can diced tomatoes (can use tomato juice) i have used stewed tomatoes or tomato juice (or a combination of all) ( i have thought about v -8 juice) |
3 cans kidney beans, drained (optional can use less if you like) |
salt/pepper to taste (white pepper is an option) |
Directions:
1. We will number these for you! Just hit 'enter' after every step.Brown ground beef and onion together. Drain grease. In large stockpot add 3 - 4 qts., water, ground beef/onion mixture, beef bullion, cabbage, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, salt & pepper. Bring to boil and cook for 30 min. Make cornbread to serve with it. Instead of adding all that water I would try and use tomato juice, more flavor. I like tomatoes. 2. For a different twist drop cabbage and add noodles, some nice ones like penne, rigatoni, farfalle , radiatore, fusiili or shells. 3. Then maybe some celery and sliced carrots. This is really a recipe you can change many ways, you are only limited by what you like. |
