It's not really stew but I'm just not sure what it should be called. Ingredients:
1/3 cup flour |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
pepper |
1 lb stewing beef |
4 tablespoons margarine |
2 teaspoons garlic, minced |
2 yellow onions, sliced |
2 cups mushrooms, sliced |
1 (8 ounce) can beef broth |
1 (1 1/2 ounce) packet onion gravy mix |
Directions:
1. Blend salt and pepper with 1/2 the flour and thoroughly coat beef. 2. In a heavy bottom pan, melt 2 Tbsp of the margarine and add beef, brown evenly. 3. Set browned beef aside and add remaining margarine to the pan with garlic, onions and mushrooms and cook until softened, scraping the bottom of the pan of the crunchy bits from the beef. 4. Stir in remaining flour and add back beef. 5. Add beef broth and mix in packet of onion gravy mix. 6. Cover and simmer on low for 15 minutes. |
